Scrub pad, scouring pad, scourer: what the names mean

Same product, different names

Scrub pad, scouring pad, scourer, kitchen scrubber, utensil scrubber and nylon pad are mostly different names for an abrasive pad used to clean pots, pans and utensils. Which word is used depends on the region and the shop. In our catalogue they are all scrub pads.

Nylon pads and steel scrubbers are different tools

A nylon scrub pad is a flat abrasive pad, usually green, used for everyday cookware. A steel scrubber, also called a steel scourer or SS scrubber, is a coil of metal for tougher, burnt-on residue on hard-wearing cookware. Sponges are softer again and are used for dishes and wiping.
