Pocha, floor cloth and mop: which one to use

Pocha and floor cloth

A pocha (also written poocha or paucha) is a cotton floor cloth, used wet to wipe floors by hand or with a holder. Scrub Xpert lists pochas from 18 x 18 to 32 x 32 and floor cloths in 22, 27 and 34 inch, with 100% cotton in the 27 and 34 inch floor cloths.

Wet mops

A wet mop has an absorbent head on a handle, so you can wash floors without bending. The range includes plastic wet mops in 6 and 9 inch and an iron clip (Kent) wet mop in 6 inch.

Dry (dust control) mops

A dust control or dry mop is used on dry floors to gather dust and light dirt. It is not a substitute for a wet mop when floors need washing.

Which to choose

• Daily dust on smooth floors: dust control mop.
• Washing floors: wet mop or pocha.
• Small rooms and corners: a smaller pocha.
• Large halls and shops: a wide dry mop plus a wet mop.

Stocking tip

Shops often stock one small and one large pocha, a wet mop and a dry mop. See the sizes and item codes in the guides and category pages linked below.
